How about leading global change as the new Independent Chair of RICS SRB's Valuation Assurance Committee - Take the reins as the Independent Chair of RICS SRB's Valuation Assurance Committee, where your leadership, ethical principles, and property valuation expertise will have a tangible impact.

This prestigious Chair position offers a unique opportunity with global reach, requiring 25 days of your time annually. You will lead a committee comprised of 4 RICS Valuers and 4 Non-Valuer members, all of whom will be recruited by Summer 2024.

The purpose of the new Committee is to oversee the regulatory quality assurance framework for the 16,000+ RICS Registered Valuers and 2,500+ RICS Regulated firms that undertake valuation work and the application of the professional standards they work to.

Although you aren't a Member of RICS you are engaged in the Valuations space, understand the importance of regulatory compliance and risks in valuations, the reach it has across other sectors and how financial markets rely on valuers' findings.

Your 25 days will be utilised undertaking regular committee meetings, committee member reviews, meetings with the SRB, governance bodies and working groups, and engagement with RICS members and external stakeholders including the Bank of England, Financial Conduct Authority, Financial Reporting Council, Prudential Regulation Authority, Government departments and investor bodies.

Although you aren't currently undertaking valuations, your depth of knowledge and understanding of the sector will enable you to inspire stakeholder and public confidence in RICS as a professional body whilst working closely with RICS staff to develop the strategic direction of the regulatory assurance regime and standards and professional development function.

Your Senior Leadership gained in a relevant compliance, regulatory, property valuation or investment setting will be leaned on with your added experience of chairing a board or committee as a non-executive, working within a regulatory setting being pivotal to the success of this new Committee. Key Information

  • It is anticipated the Committee will meet approx. 4 times a year (virtually) with provision for one 'in-person' meeting per annum (usually to take place in either London or Birmingham, UK). Some global travel may be required.
  • Remunerated at a rate of £15,000 per annum (paid monthly via Invoice, this role is not pensionable).
  • Your anticipated time commitment is 25 days per annum.
  • You will be eligible to claim reasonable travel and subsistence expenses in accordance with the current RICS policy.
  • The maximum term of an appointment will be three years. There may be no more than two successive terms of appointment up to a maximum of six years.
  • Closing date for applications is 17:00 (BST) on Friday 3 rd May 2024.
  • A panel interview to take place on Thursday 13 June or Friday 14 June 2024, this interview will be via MS Teams.
  • The Chair of the Valuation Assurance Committee must not be a current member of RICS nor be currently undertaking valuations themselves or work within an organisation that provides valuation services to the public.
