As part of the Research Alliance Ruhr, the Research Center One Health Ruhr - from Molecules to Systems is seeking to fill the following position at the Faculty of Biology in conjunction with the Faculty of Medicine, University of Duisburg-Essen (UDE) as soon as possible: Professorship in Cell Biology and Human Disease (W3 salary band as defined in the North Rhine-Westphalian regulations for the W salary range (Landesbesoldungsordnung W The Faculty of Biology and the Faculty of Medicine at UDE enjoy an excellent international reputation in the fields of basic, translational, and clinical research. Core themes have been consolidated in numerous research collaborations due to the interdisciplinary nature of basic research and clinically oriented science at the Faculty of Biology in association with the Essen Medical Campus and the University Alliance Ruhr. Your Responsibilities The person selected to hold the new professorship position will chair the newly formed Department of Cell Biology and Human Disease. The professorship is affiliated with UDE's Faculty of Biology, jointly with the Medical Faculty. Further associations exist with faculties at RUB and TU Dortmund, as well as with ISAS in Dortmund. The successful candidate will have an established and internationally competitive research portfolio and work on a current topic of molecular cell biology that bears relevance to human disease, including cancer. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to, cytoskeletal dynamics, chromatinrelated regulation, and mechanisms of proteostasis. The teaching load is reduced to four hours per week per semester, and members of the associated group may be involved in the classes. Applicants should complement and strengthen the Research Center One Health Ruhr and expand the existing strengths of the ZMB and the Facultyof Biology. Participation in the Collaborative Research Center 1430 "Molecular Mechanisms of Cell State Transitions" is desirable. Your Qualifications The future chair should be an internationally recognized scientist in a field of molecular cell biology that is related to the research interests of the Research Center One Health Ruhr and have an established, externally funded and competitive research program. Expertise in leading research groups as well as publications in high-ranking peer-reviewed journals and successful acquisition of competitive third-party funding projects are mandatory. Experience in initiating and leading research consortia is desirable. In addition, the recruitment criteria of Sections 36 and 37 of the North Rhine-Westphalia Higher Education Act (Gesetz über die Hochschulen des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen, HG NRW) apply.
