Job description

I am currently seeking a highly skilled Quality Manager in Dundee for a leading manufacturing company specialising in advanced technology components for the energy, defence, and industrial sectors. This company is renowned for its commitment to quality and reliability across various challenging environments.

Role Overview:

As the Quality Manager, you will be pivotal in driving a culture of quality and excellence. You will be responsible for overseeing quality management systems, ensuring compliance with both internal and external standards, and managing a team of three direct reports. Your role will involve implementing ISO 9001:2015 standards and serving as the main contact for all Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) matters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and motivate the quality team to adhere to company policies and achieve quality objectives.
  • Set quality targets, analyse performance data, and ensure compliance with established standards.
  • Conduct internal and external audits and manage calibration requirements.
  • Investigate customer complaints, non-conformances, incidents, and quality escapes; participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
  • Develop and implement quality procedures and plans to meet customer quality standards consistently.
  • Set QA compliance objectives, monitor progress, and ensure targets are met.
  • Formulate and manage QA/QC goals, policies, procedures, and systems.
  • Drive continuous improvement through in-process inspections, statistical process control (SPC), fault recording, and Pareto analysis.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience in quality management with a background in ISO 9001 or AS9100.
  • Proficiency in Lean Manufacturing and Kaizen methodologies.
  • Skilled in statistical process control and problem-solving techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Effective communicator with experience interfacing with customers.
  • Solid background in engineering and quality management, supported by relevant qualifications.
  • Experience across various engineering sectors is advantageous.
  • Strong management and leadership skills, with a demonstrated ability to lead and develop a team.

Quality Activities:

  • Deliver exceptional service and quality to customers.
  • Identify key trends through root cause analysis.
  • Promote in-process inspection and drive continuous quality improvement.
