Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and responsible Cover Supervisor to join our secondary school in Bedfordshire. The ideal candidate will be comfortable managing classrooms and ensuring continuity of learning in the absence of teaching staff. This role is essential to maintaining a supportive, safe, and productive learning environment, providing students with high-quality education even when their regular teachers are not available.



Key Responsibilities

  • Classroom Management: Supervise classes across a variety of subjects, following the lesson plans provided by absent teachers to deliver consistent instruction and maintain an orderly environment.
  • Student Support: Engage students in their tasks, clarify instructions, and assist with any questions, ensuring they understand and complete their work effectively.
  • Behavioural Management: Implement school behaviour policies to encourage positive behaviour and handle any disruptions in a constructive manner.
  • Administrative Duties: Complete necessary record-keeping, such as taking attendance, tracking assignments, and reporting any incidents as per school protocols.
  • Collaborative Communication: Work closely with teaching staff, support staff, and administration to provide feedback after lessons and maintain continuity in students' learning progress.


Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience in an educational setting, particularly in classroom management or supervisory roles.
  • Strong communication skills for effectively engaging with students and collaborating with staff.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to different subjects and lesson plans with minimal preparation time.
  • Understanding of and commitment to safeguarding and child protection.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with secondary school students in a supervisory or support role.
  • Relevant training in behaviour management or educational support.
  • Familiarity with a range of subjects at the secondary level is advantageous.
