Mechanical Design Engineer

Aldermaston - 2-3 days on site per week

Market Rate - payment via Umbrella company

Initial 6-12 months contract

Brief

DV Cleared Mechanical Design Engineer needed on contract to join an established defence firm in the Reading area.

Due to sensitivity around projects and urgency of project requirements candidate will require current DV Clearance to be considered.

What the role of the Mechanical Design Engineer entails:

Some of the main duties of the Mechanical Design Engineer will include:

  • Deliver mechanical engineering designs that address defined requirements, across the full engineering lifecycle, to a high standard.
  • Ensure the design intent is maintained throughout the lifecycle, liaising with other discipline areas to ensure overall design intent is maintained.
  • Ensure compliance with Company Assurance Environment, Safety, Health and Quality (ESH&Q) and statutory requirements.
  • Ensure application of standards is proportionate and that engineering best practice is adopted.
  • Elevate areas of concern to the relevant Principal Engineer.

What experience you need to be the successful Mechanical Design Engineer:

Qualifications

  • Essential: ONC / OND or equivalent in mechanical engineering or other related discipline.
  • Desirable: HNC / HND or equivalent in mechanical engineering or other related discipline.
  • Professional Memberships: Professional membership of an engineering institution at Eng. Tech level.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Working knowledge of legislation and standards applicable to mechanical engineering design. Competent in standard office software, and engineering tools and applications.
  • Producing mechanical designs as part of a multi-discipline design team.
  • Able to work on a nuclear licensed site.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of legislation and standards associated with nuclear and / or high hazard facilities.
  • Experience of working in a highly regulated environment (preferably nuclear and / or explosives).
