Job description

A Berkshire Local Authority is looking for an experienced Allocations Team Leader to join their team on a 3-month contract, with the possibility of extension.

The successful candidate will have a solid understanding of Part 6 of the Housing Act 1996, particularly within Allocations, and a proven ability to manage teams in a fast-paced environment. You will be working under the Interim Head of Allocations, managing a team of 8, including Senior Allocations Officers and Allocations Officers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of 8 Allocations Officers, ensuring all social housing eligibility assessments and allocations are carried out in accordance with legal requirements.
  • Ensure the team is well-organised and meeting service expectations.
  • Oversee the social housing lettings process, including nominations to both Registered Providers and council-owned properties.
  • Maintain accurate records and produce performance reports on voids, lettings, and the housing register.
