Job description

Infrastructure Engineer

We are working with a large Housing Association to recruit for an Infrastructure Engineer to join their IT team. The post holder will be responsible for the installation, monitoring, maintenance, and support of the organisation's hardware, software, and cloud systems, as well as managing and delivering technical projects, upgrades, and implementations.

Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
Benefits: 28 days annual leave plus bank holidays, matched employer pension contribution up to 10%, personal development, and much more
Duration: Permanent
Location: Berkshire (hybrid working - 3 days per week in the office, occasional travel to other sites)


The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Managing and administrating physical and virtual IT infrastructure, including servers, SANs, routers, switches, UPS, LANs, SD-WAN and wireless networks
  • Maintaining the Azure cloud estate
  • Delivering IT infrastructure projects, upgrades, and implementations
  • Ensuring all systems, services, and platforms are patched
  • Being an escalation point for incidents and problems from Service Desk
  • Reviewing and remediating identified IT security risks
  • Implementing security standards, procedures, policies, and guidelines for multiple platforms


The successful candidate will have:

  • Demonstrable experience as an Infrastructure Engineer
  • In-depth knowledge and experience in the implementation and support of hardware, software, servers and networks
  • Solid understanding of Windows, O365, Azure, VMWare, enterprise storage, networking
  • Knowledge of industry best practice for security standards and Cloud security standards
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with staff and students
  • Valid UK driving licence and own car
