Job description

Overview:

  • Day to day management and improvement of Food Safety Management Systems including documentation, control and adherence to regulatory requirements, customer, and internal driven requirements.
  • Support management of HACCP system, micro and environmental program, SPC, plant systems, inventory control, hold management and all programs incorporated within the Food Safety Management System.
  • Help manage daily food safety and quality with review of quality records and product release documentation.
  • Ensures that all aspects of HACCP plan development, documentation and control are in place.
  • Must possess ability and aptitude to conduct root cause analysis and follow-up to corrective actions as it relates to safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Actively participate in and help identify and lead plant continuous improvement quality initiatives, analyse and report leading and lagging KPIs.
  • Understand food safety and quality standards (i.e., BRC) and support site effort to comply with GFSI requirement,
  • Support Food Safety and Quality Manager during on-site customer and certification audits.
  • Identify opportunities for corrective and preventive action to minimize and eliminate food safety & quality attribute concerns
  • Able to train others on product food safety and quality checks and support development of Food Safety Culture on site.
  • Responsible for isolating, tagging, and electronically placing defective materials on HOLD.
  • Manage finished goods documentation e.g., True View, label updates, quality certificates.
  • Provide direction and guidance to plant team and display leadership in directing quality in product evaluation and proper documentation.
  • Understand the manufacturing process flow. This includes understanding and auditing key programs that support overall sanitation, maintenance, and inspection of the equipment/areas.
  • Supports Sensory, Quality Systems, SPC & HACCP through individual and small group training/coaching with employees involved in the process.
  • Understand current UK and EU labelling requirements and ensure timely development and approval of finished product labels.

Qualifications:

Master's degree in food science or equivalent,

Minimum of 5 years experience in food safety and quality related role in food manufacturing.

Demonstrate the ability to solve problems

Ability to work in a team environment with limited supervision.

Knowledge about food microbiology and managing micro risks in food production environment

Possess the ability to summarize information to create reports.

Consistently practice time management skills with the ability to prioritize.

Possess and demonstrate passion for the job, the role, and the company

Advance knowledge of Microsoft tools
