Job description

About the Role: We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior or Associate Building Surveyor to join our dynamic team in Cambridge. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of projects, providing professional advice and overseeing all aspects of building surveying. You will be responsible for managing client relationships, delivering high-quality service, and contributing to the growth of our Cambridge office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting building surveys, condition assessments, and preparing detailed reports.
  • Managing refurbishment, renovation, and repair projects from inception to completion, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget.
  • Preparing specifications, schedules of work, and tender documentation.
  • Advising clients on maintenance, repair, and conservation of buildings, including historic and listed properties.
  • Undertaking contract administration, ensuring compliance with statutory and contractual obligations.
  • Providing expert advice on building defects, repairs, and health and safety issues.
  • Engaging in client relationship management, including business development and networking to secure new opportunities.
  • Mentoring and supporting junior surveyors, contributing to their professional development and the overall success of the team.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
  • MRICS qualified with significant experience in building surveying.
  • Strong technical knowledge of building construction, pathology, and statutory compliance.
  • Proven track record in managing projects and delivering client-focused services.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build strong client relationships.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Experience with historic and listed buildings is desirable but not essential.
  • Proficiency in relevant software and technology used in building surveying.
