Control Room Operator

Location: Crewe, UK

Hours: 12 hour day shifts, 4 on 4 off
Or as required to meets the needs of the business, you will be required to work weekends as and when required.
Overtime is available if required either in this capacity or other duties.

Reports to: Duty Manager / Senior Operations Manager

Salary: £11.70 per hour

Our client is seeking a dedicated and reliable Control Room Operator to oversee the daily operations of the Control Room. You will be responsible for managing operational duties, ensuring the smooth running of the control room, maintaining safety protocols, and supporting administrative tasks. Key Responsibilities:Control Room Operations:

  • Manage all operational duties within the Control Room to ensure efficient daily operations.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the Control Room and entrance area.
  • Oversee and update essential paperwork, including:

    • Safety Check Call Reports
    • Mobile Patrol Reports
    • Shift Rotas and databases
    • Tick Sheets
    • Vehicle Tracker Reports

Shift Handover:

  • Conduct detailed shift handovers, ensuring a thorough exchange of information with the outgoing and incoming Control Room Operators and Duty Managers.
  • Perform checks on CCTV, ANPR, and mobile patrols to ensure all duties are completed.
  • Log and address any issues or incomplete tasks from the previous shift.

Whiteboards & Logs:

  • Review Control Room whiteboards for important shift-related notes or updates.
  • Maintain an electronic Daily Occurrence Log, documenting incidents and occurrences.
  • Complete incident reports for any event requiring intervention from the Control Room or external agencies (e.g., Police).

General Administration:

  • File all completed documents correctly within the Control Room, following company procedures.
  • Ensure all control room documents are signed or completed in pen; no use of liquid paper or tip-ex.
  • Manage and complete key holding procedures, including weekly checks of keys and vehicle key logs.

Non-Response & Absence Management:

  • Handle non-response check calls by following established escalation procedures.
  • Ensure any employee absence, sickness, or lateness is reported to the appropriate teams.

Scheduling & Shift Covering:

  • Manage the rota, ensuring coverage for requested shifts or absences (e.g., blowouts, ad-hoc shifts).
  • Communicate any rota changes to the Rostering Manager and assist with weekly scheduling.
  • Assist with recruitment and temporary cover when necessary.

Key Holding & Vehicle Management:

  • Perform regular checks of all keys and vehicles held in the Control Room, ensuring proper fobbing procedures are followed.
  • Complete daily checks on company vehicles and ensure fuel levels are maintained at all times.
  • Report any damage or issues with vehicles to the Senior Operations Manager and complete necessary accident reports.

CCTV Monitoring & Alarm Response:

  • Monitor CCTV in accordance with company and client procedures.
  • Respond to alarm activations, following Key Holding and Alarm Response procedures.

Additional General Duties:

  • Perform routine office maintenance tasks, such as sweeping, emptying bins, and clearing ashtrays.
  • Ensure the replenishment of necessary forms and documents within the Control Room.
  • Maintain safety measures, such as spreading grit or salt outside the office during adverse weather conditions.

Email & Communication:

  • Action operational emails during your shift and ensure timely responses.
  • During off-days or holiday periods, forward emails to the Operations Manager and Senior Operations Manager for follow-up.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a control room or similar operational role is preferred.
  • Security: 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certification

  • SIA Licence Door Supervisor (required)
  • Clean UK Driving Licence (required)
  • First Aid Certification (preferred)
  • CCTV Licence (preferred)

  • Ability to work on a rotating shift pattern, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
