Job description

BAE Systems are currently recruiting for an operations technician to join their team on a contract Basis.

Location: Barrow-In-Furness
Duration: Initial 12-month contract
Rate: 25 PAYE p/h (inside IR35)
Working Hours: 37-hour week, completed either on a 3on4off ( 3 12-hour shifts) or Monday to Friday. You will be expected to be on site a minimum of 80% of the time.

  • Providing support and guidance on Responsible Document Management.
  • Reviewing the effectiveness of Responsible Document Management.
  • HV Systems.
  • Maintenance & Repair of Fixed Plant Systems including Electric, Electronic, Gas Boilers, HVAC, Mechanical/Hydraulics, and PLC Software-controlled.
  • Maintenance & Repair of Portable Equipment.
  • Maintenance & Repair of Welding Equipment - Laser Control Systems.
  • Maintenance & Repair of Welding Equipment
  • Ship lift Operation
  • Plant Software
  • Welding software



Typical Core Duties include (but are not limited to):

  • Responsible for maintenance and validation of complex electrical/mechanical equipment in a timely manner.
  • Provide support service to business products under construction and site facilities customers.
  • Assist with maintenance reviews, providing appropriate technical advice as required.
  • Assist with the development of, and where appropriate produce documentation to the required standard.
  • Liaise with other departments and contractors as appropriate, fostering appropriate customer relations at all times.
  • Provide on the job training, mentoring and development for other employees.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of innovative process solutions.
  • Attend meetings as required, ensuring that an active role is played.
  • To be able to access, have a clear understanding of and apply the Quality and HS&E Management System documentation e.g. Process Instructions, Workmanship Standards, Risk Assessments etc. applicable to your particular work scope and to obey all HS&E rules and control measures.
