About role

Our client is a leading supplier of polyurethane solutions for systems and specialities, which they develop, manufacture and supply to customers in the UK and Ireland from its site in Alfreton, Derbyshire.

They are requiring a Production Operator to join their team at Alfreton on a 6 month initial contract. The role will be to work Mon - Fri, 37.5 hours per week.

Primary objective of role

Operate all resources for the dispensing of finished products efficiently, without compromising safety and quality so that customer demand is met.

Responsibilities

  • As part of a small team this role is responsible for the dispensing of a wide variety of polyurethane products in accordance with standard operating procedures to provide quality finished products for our customers in line with the operating plan.
  • Working on a batch process you will be required to prepare and label packaging ready to fill various quantities of materials, using forklift trucks and other equipment while observing safe working practices.
  • You will be able to accurately maintain batch and stock records, sometimes working to tight deadlines, you will also have a pro-active approach to team working and be able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Take personal responsibility and ownership for your actions and support others to prevent adverse effects on the company's performance and BASF's Responsible care, Environmental and Health and Safety policies.
  • Make a positive and effective contribution to the department and company targets via Continuous Improvement and lean manufacturing Strategies.


Minimum qualifications and experience required

  • Must hold a valid current counterbalance FLT license.
  • Education - 5 GCSE's including Maths and English at grade 5 or equivalent.
  • Minimum 1 year's previous experience of working in a Production or warehouse environment, ideally within the chemical manufacturing industry and understand environmental, health and safety issues (EHS)
  • Fluent in English with good written and verbal communication skills with the ability to follow procedures and instructions.
  • Demonstrate effective time management and ownership of tasks, working well with minimal supervision.
  • Basic IT knowledge, computer literacy in Microsoft office, word, excel preferred.
