Assistant Manager, East Devon

Job description

We have an unusual and interesting position to assist the farmer in the running of a large dairy in East Devon. The 1100 cow herd is housed year-round in mainly recently built facilities and are milked 3X through a De Laval 50:50 rapid exit parlour by an established milking team. The role will centre around calves and youngstock, overseeing a small team and ensuring that the next generation of milking cows have the best possible start in life. You will be an outstanding communicator who, as well as working within you own team will also need to be able to liaise effectively with the milking team, the herd health specialist and outside agencies - particularly vets. You will ideally be trained in AI and have an understanding of industry recognised targets for young stock management.
