Job description

TeacherActive is looking for an energetic and motivated Sports Coach / Teaching Assistant to join our team and work across schools in Essex. This dual work entails assisting children with both physical education and classroom activities, making it suitable for individuals who are interested about encouraging physical health and learning. You will assist children in developing important academic and athletic abilities, all while maintaining a happy and inclusive school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in delivering sports and physical education lessons to students of varying ages and abilities.
• Support teachers in classroom settings, providing assistance with academic lessons and activities.
• Encourage student engagement in sports, promoting health, fitness, and teamwork.
• Help manage behavior and maintain a positive learning environment both in the classroom and on the sports field.
• Assist in the preparation of lesson plans, resources, and equipment for PE lessons.
• Work closely with other staff to identify and support students with individual needs.
• Provide one-on-one or small group support as needed to boost students' academic and physical progress.

Requirements:

• Experience in sports coaching or physical education (relevant qualifications are desirable).
• Previous experience working with children or young people in an educational setting.
• A passion for both physical education and academic development.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work as part of a team, supporting teachers and engaging with students.
• A valid DBS check (or willingness to apply for one).
• Flexibility to work across different schools in Essex.
