Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of rough sleepers? Do you have a proven track record of leading and delivering impactful services? We are seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to join our team as the Head of Rough Sleeper Services, overseeing the delivery of vital support to individuals experiencing homelessness.
About the Role:As the Head of Rough Sleeper Services, you will play a pivotal role in managing and developing services aimed at reducing rough sleeping in Southend-on-Sea. You will lead a dedicated team, working closely with partner organisations, local authorities, and community stakeholders to ensure rough sleepers receive the support they need to transition into safe and sustainable accommodation.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage the rough sleeper outreach team, ensuring services are delivered effectively and compassionately.
  • Develop and implement strategies to reduce rough sleeping, in line with local and national objectives.
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with local authorities, housing providers, and support services to enhance service delivery.
  • Ensure high standards of service provision, safeguarding, and client care are maintained.
  • Monitor service performance, producing regular reports and evaluations to drive continuous improvement.
  • Lead on funding applications, budget management, and resource allocation to support the growth of services.
Must-Haves:
  • Proven leadership experience in a homelessness, housing, or related sector.
  • Strong understanding of rough sleeping issues and solutions, including housing pathways, mental health, and substance misuse support.
  • Experience working with local authorities, housing associations, and support services.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and partnership-building skills.
  • Ability to manage teams, budgets, and complex projects.
  • Compassionate, resilient, and committed to helping vulnerable individuals achieve positive outcomes.
