There is an exciting opportunity to join Bellway, one of the UK s largest house builders. Our Scotland West Division located in Hamilton is looking to recruit a Finance Manager to join the Division s Senior Management Team.

The Role

The role of Finance Manager involves assisting in the production of accurate and timely financial transactions and reports in addition to maintaining the business s accounting records. The role will also involve provide support and direction to the rest of the finance team. The role will report directly to the Finance Director thereby assisting to drive the financial performance and position of the Division s business and support the Managing Director in achieving the agreed business plan and sustainable, profitable growth.

Principal accountabilities of the Finance Manager role include:

- Prepare month end balance sheet reconciliations and management accounts

- Prepare monthly journals and account analysis

- Prepare divisional reporting returns (VAT, CIS, Payroll)

- Review and challenge proposed land acquisitions, including areas such as the financial assumptions and VAT

- Secondary divisional contact, covering for the Finance Director for divisional HR, payroll, IT and fleet issues with support available from Group

- Maintenance of KPI and analysis schedules

- Oversight on the maintenance of house sales ledger including monthly sales reconciliation

- Lead and manage the Divisional finance team and ensure accuracy, quality and efficiency are maximised

- Initial contact for Finance queries or problems, conduit for reporting and escalating issues to Head of Finance Director

- Assist the Finance Director to ensure compliance with the Group Accounting Manual and implement business process improvements

- Initial contact for all Group finance queries

- Provide cover for various duties within the department

- Troubleshooting transactions and suggesting corrections

- Perform cost analysis

- Assist the Finance Director with data entry, queries and reports relating to the forecast system, as necessary.

- Complete various returns and requests for information, as required

- Manage the interim and year end process with external auditors through to sign off for the division.

- Treasury management ensuring monthly and daily cash flow forecasts for the division are as accurate as possible and divisional adherence to the Prompt Payment Code.

Experience, Qualifications and Skills

Experience

  • .Experience of working within a similar role will be preferred.
  • Experience of working with accountancy software. Working knowledge of COINS is desirable.

Qualifications and Training

  • CIMA, ACCA or ACA qualified

  • Proficient IT skills along with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook) and the ability to adapt to new systems
