The Public Works Department is currently recruiting for a Design Engineer. The directorate is one of the largest departments in the Falkland Islands Government, with responsibility for the development, construction and maintenance of key infrastructure required to support our community in the Falkland Islands. If so, look no further than this advertisement Design Engineer Stanley, Falkland Islands Fixed Term Contract, up to 4 years Starting Salary £53,759 up to £61,691 per annum (depending on qualifications and experience) plus 25% Gratuity (taxable) & Flights and Relocation Package Minimum of 10 years supervisory management experience The Role The successful candidate will be responsible for the Preparation of designs, reports and contract documents for construction/infrastructure projects, to enable the works to be built efficiently and economically. Your responsibility will include Direct management responsibility for 7 staff including Designers, CAD Technician and Surveyors The Person You will have excellent interpersonal skills, able to manage the preparation of detailed technical designs, reports and contract documentation as the professional lead on all matters relating to the Design Section of the Public Works Department to ensure the provision of an effective service. You will be able to manage, motivate, supervise and mentor staff to assist the Design Engineer to carry out his duties, including performance management. Candidates should hold a recognised Degree and should be a Chartered Civil/Structural Engineer. The individual best suited to this role should have a minimum of 10 Years supervisory management experience and able to work in a complex political stakeholder environment. The Package Fixed Term Contract, up to 4 years. Starting Salary £53,759 up to £61,691 per annum (depending on qualifications and experience). Eligibility for a 25% Gratuity (taxable), paid upon successful completion of contract. 41 days paid leave, 30 days paid annual leave plus 11 government and public holidays. Relocation Allowance, to help with moving costs. Flights Package, for you and any recognised dependents residing with you at post both at the beginning and end of contract, along with additional annual return flights contingent on the duration of the contract.
