Job description

We are looking for a Chair of Governors (volunteering role)

GOSH school has sites both at Great Ormond Street Hospital and University College Hospital, providing an excellent education to 2-19 year olds.

This is an exciting opportunity to make a difference for our children and be part of our continuing journey.

Join our dedicated governing board and make a lasting impact on our hospital school. As Chair, you will lead, inspire, and guide our team to provide exceptional education and support to children with medical needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee board meetings and decision-making
  • Ensure effective governance and accountability
  • Support the headteacher and senior leadership team, being a 'critical friend'
  • Represent the school in the wider community

Experience needed/desired:

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience of chairing meetings (not necessarily as school governor)
  • Successfully led a team
  • Experience of the education/health sectors
  • Experience of effective public relations
