Good Afternoon,

I am currently representing Brent Council, who are offering an initial temporary contract for a period of 3-6 months with a view to be extended or offered a permanent position for the right candidate at a rate of £18.66 which is negotiable dependent upon experience.

We are looking for a Accommodation Services Officer this role will be: HA9 0FJ

The right candidate will:

  • To ensure a continuous flow of emergency accommodation that is suitable and of a decent standard, across and outside of London Borough of Brent.
  • Manage and lead staff to achieve high performance and effective operational delivery, including developing and improving staff capability.
  • To lead the effective allocation and make best use of Emergency Housing Lets (EHL) and hotel accommodation for households in need of emergency housing, including effective processing of new bookings, transfers, extensions and terminations.
  • To set up rent accounts immediately and accurately when placements are made on the day, or the next day where placements occur out of hours, never allowing tenants to fall into arrears on day 1 and always promoting a rent first attitude.
  • To ensure Emergency Housing Officers comply with procedures for terminating accommodation where customers refuse to pay monies owed, and to manage accommodation that has been abandoned by effectively and swiftly terminating the placement and rent account. This includes issuing instructions to start possession proceedings and providing Legal Services with information necessary to obtain a successful eviction, and to serve the Notice seeking Possession / Notice to Quit and attend Court as required.

We require the following:

  • Ability to supervise and manage a team of staff including conduct and discipline.
  • Ability to provide clear, confident and effective leadership in a highly pressurised environment, motivating others to maximise their performance and delegating effectively where appropriate.
  • Ability to develop and lead on projects that cut across departments, escalating issues and delivering desired outcomes.
  • Able to manage data sets and articulate what is needed.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Skilled in improving services and delivering results which go beyond what is expected wherever possible.
  • Demonstrate the ability to motivate a team towards common goals, creating a sense of team spirit.
  • Highly self-motivated with the ability to manage projects effectively without high levels of supervision.
  • Problem solving and decision-making skills with the ability to deal with potentially complex situations within a busy workload, mitigate risks to customer and organisation, and achieve positive outcomes.
