Department: Aga Khan Library

We are looking for a motivated and personable Assistant Librarian to contribute to the development of our digital library systems. This permanent, part-time position (17.5 hours per week) is based at The Aga Khan Centre (AKC), where you'll have the opportunity to work in a culturally rich and intellectually stimulating environment. This role is ideal for someone seeking valuable experience in a prestigious institution and looking to grow their skills in digital librarianship.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the management and troubleshooting of the Koha library system and EDS discovery service.
  • Deliver user training sessions to ensure easy access to library systems and resources.
  • Support digitisation and digital preservation projects using our DSpace platform.
  • Assist with the management of electronic resources.
  • Promote library resources to increase usage across departments.

Requirements:

  • Advanced degree in Library or Information Science, or relevant experience in managing library systems.
  • Experience with library management systems (e.g. Koha), discovery services, and digital preservation systems (e.g. DSpace).
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to train users on library systems.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and configure library management systems and electronic resources.
