Job description

Chair - Let Me Know
Unremunerated - min. 12 days per year

Everyone dreams of a happy and healthy life. But for many, knowing what a safe and healthy relationship looks like isn't straightforward. In the UK, one in four women and one in six men are likely to experience domestic abuse in their life.

Two in five young people (41%) aged 11-17 have experienced verbal abuse from the adults around them. Cases of 'sextortion' have doubled within a single year (2023), with male victims aged between 14-18 being particularly targeted. In LMK's 2024 poll of 2000 young people aged 16-25, 60% of young people didn't know the signs of a healthy or unhealthy relationship, whether that be with family, friends, an intimate relationship or with colleagues.

That's why we're here. Let Me Know (LMK) wants to stop relationship abuse before it starts - and we believe that to recognise the signs of abuse, you have to know what they are.

LMK is a young, ambitious and growing London-based education charity, working with 10-24 year olds and the adults who support them. We're committed to providing young people with the knowledge and skills to thrive in their relationships, through interactive, discussion-based workshops. Now in our fifth year, we have already welcomed 15,000 participants to our workshops, and the demand for our help and support is ever increasing. With a recently appointed CEO driving our exciting new strategy, there couldn't be a better time to become our next Chair.

This is an exceptional opportunity to join and lead our inspiring and highly effective Board. We're looking for an experienced charity trustee with a comprehensive understanding of charity governance, and experience of driving a scaling-up process would be a definite advantage. You'll relish the chance to get our story heard in more places, advocating for our distinctive preventative approach and telling an optimistic, hopeful story. It's really important that the voice of young people is at the heart of our thinking and decision-making, so experience of integrating young people into governance would be a significant asset. Strong candidates will additionally bring knowledge of relevant sectors and issues such as Relationship and Sex education (RSE), Violence Against Women and Girls, mental health, community engagement or youth work.

Find out more at If you require the candidate materials in an alternative format, or if you have any questions which are not answered on the microsite, please contact Cadence Partners at

Closing date: 19 November 2024.
