Handy Person - House Person

Location: London, N6 4AA

Salary: £30,000 - £50,000 per annum

Our client is looking for a Handy Person / House Person to join their team.

The Role

Responsibilities to include but are not limited to:

  • Manage and oversee the Principal s residence in London: effective communication with all the suppliers and contractors, making sure all contractors work for a reasonable price, actively making sure on a daily basis that everything works 100% inside and outside of the house and dealing with any problems should they arise
  • Doing all handyman works and repairs within the property
  • Looking after all cars: daily cleaning interiors and exteriors including vacuuming, making sure fuel tank is never in reserve and keeping on top of MOTS, services etc
  • Managing all house technology to include WIFI, heating, AC, alarm, TV/AV, kitchen appliances & other electrical appliances in the house as well as good DIY skills
  • Pro-active garden maintenance - keeping the garden in perfect condition: plant care, watering, cleaning BBQ, clearing away children s toys daily and supervising the gardening company on visits
  • Maintaining the swimming pool
  • Welcoming visitors and communicating with them via the intercom
  • Keeping the Houseman s area clean and tidy and keeping all tools well organised and labelled
  • Driving the principal and family members when needed
  • Running errands such as going to dry cleaners, post office, managing deliveries and returns, grocery & supplies shopping as requested
  • Removing bins outside the house on scheduled days and managing recycling on a daily basis
  • Arrange appointments for personal and professional needs when asked for
  • Ensure the security of the residence & Principals at all times
  • Oversee the household inventory supplies
  • Schedule and oversee contractors and maintenance programmes
  • Assist with planning and organising parties and events in the home and outside
  • Work well alongside other staff

Requirements:

Good negotiation skills - experienced in sourcing suppliers/contractors plus review existing agreements and suggest improvements

Proven experience at similar role, preferably within a private property

Efficient, well organised and able to multi task

Anticipatory and always willing to help

Pleasant, flexible and co-operative personality

Positive and enthusiastic attitude

Friendly and polite to Principals, their children and all members of staff

Understand privacy and confidentiality, being invisible yet available

Good initiative and able to work well in a very busy and dynamic family environment

High degree of flexibility and level of service is absolutely essential

Very good practical DIY skills

Pleasant and personable personality

Excellent time management

Possess excellent interpersonal skills

Honest with a good attitude

Dress smartly and respectably at all times

In good health

Excellent contactable references

Clean DBS check (or willing to undertake one)

Clean driving licence
