Job description

Spencer Clarke Group are seeking a Housing Review Officer for a Local Authority Client based in North London.

In this role, you will conduct statutory reviews of housing decisions, ensuring compliance with legal requirements, making sound decisions, and liaising with legal representatives to defend any challenges.

About the role:

You will be tasked with delivering key strategic objectives:

  • Undertake detailed reviews of housing cases under section 202 of the Housing Act.
  • Perform robust enquiries to gather relevant information and evidence related to each case.
  • Make sound and fair decisions based on the findings from case reviews, ensuring compliance with legal standards.
  • Prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation of review processes, decisions, and rationale.
  • Manage your own caseload efficiently, prioritising tasks and meeting deadlines without direct supervision.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external agencies to resolve complex housing issues.

About you:

The successful candidate will have the following skills / experience:

  • Experience in conducting comprehensive reviews and assessments of housing cases.
  • Experience interacting with solicitors and advocates, particularly in the context of housing reviews.
  • Experience managing a caseload independently and effectively prioritising tasks.
  • In-depth understanding of the Housing Act, particularly section 202, and related housing laws.

What's on offer:

Salary: 24+ph

may negotiate higher for exceptional candidates, based on experience

Contract type: 3-6, months minimum, with a high likelihood of extension

Hours: Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week
