Job Title: Network Consultant (Inside IR35, SC Clearance Required)

Location: Hybrid/Stratford (London) with a requirement to be in the office 2/3 times a week.

Contract Length: 6-month term, with potential extension based on performance

Security Clearance: Active SC Clearance required (must have worked in an SC role within the last 12 months)

Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Network Consultant to join our team within HMRC, providing essential network support and optimization across existing and future network architectures. This role requires a proactive professional with a strong background in network troubleshooting, configuration, and security best practices. You will be a key resource in delivering reliable, secure, and efficient network solutions, ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Independently handle switch configuration and maintenance, including IOS upgrades.
  • Address network faults (Routing, Switching, VLANs/VTP, Remote Management) and raise issues with Cisco TAC when required.
  • Optimize network service delivery by assessing current and future network architectures.
  • Configure and maintain network security protocols, including ISE, TACACs, and RADIUS.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Active SC Clearance (must be verifiable as active).
  • CCNA certification with hands-on experience.
  • Proven expertise in network fault management and troubleshooting.
  • Strong knowledge of network security and access controls.

Desired Skills:

  • Advanced knowledge of FMC/FTD for Firewall and VPN maintenance and upgrades.
  • Experience with housekeeping assessments (Firewall rule consolidation, security best practices).
  • Ability to leverage FMC capabilities for enhanced monitoring and event analysis.
  • Proficiency in network change emulation testing for optimized service delivery.

The onboarding process may take up to 4-5 weeks due to security clearance transfers. This is an excellent opportunity to work on impactful projects within a leading public sector organization, with the potential for contract extension based on performance.
