Role Overview:
The Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing significant initiatives, including the launch of customer-facing digital platforms, internal system upgrades, website projects, and business process integrations. The role ensures that projects are properly scoped, managed, and delivered on time, within budget, and meeting quality expectations. Building strong relationships with both internal teams and external partners is key, as well as maintaining clear communication throughout the project life cycle.
Primary Responsibilities:
Project Oversight: Lead the planning, execution, and successful delivery of software development, system implementation, or other assigned projects.
End-to-End Management: Develop detailed project plans, monitor progress, and ensure completion within agreed timelines and budget, maintaining high-quality standards.
Risk & Issue Management: Track risks, issues, and changes through logs and documentation. Lead project meetings, offering updates and progress reports to key stakeholders.
Stakeholder Coordination: Act as the primary liaison for stakeholders to gather requirements and keep communication lines open throughout the project duration.
Supplier Relations: Maintain strong working relationships with external vendors and serve as a point of contact for internal teams seeking project advice.
Continuous Improvement: Collaborate with the Project Office to implement lessons learned, optimize best practices, and standardize methodologies.
Financial Accountability: Oversee project budgets, flagging any concerns, and recommending cost-effective strategies to maintain project quality.
Technical Responsibilities:
Lifecycle Management: Manage all aspects of the software or system development life cycle (from requirements gathering through to deployment) in collaboration with internal teams and external vendors.
Tools Utilization: Utilize project management tools such as JIRA for task management and Confluence for project documentation and reporting.
Financial Responsibility:
Budget Monitoring: Track financial aspects of the project and escalate issues to appropriate team members when necessary.
Cost Management: Propose methods to reduce project costs without compromising on quality.
Mentoring & Support:
Knowledge Sharing: Provide informal mentoring and guidance on project management techniques, and potentially contribute to internal training workshops for staff development.
Required Skills & Experience:
Project Management Expertise: Proven ability to manage software development or system implementation projects.
Methodology Proficiency: Familiarity with project management methodologies such as Prince2, PMI, or Agile.
Technical Tools Knowledge: Experience using tools like MS Project, JIRA, and Confluence.
Stakeholder & Communication Skills: Strong ability to manage stakeholder expectations and communicate effectively across various teams.
Problem-Solving Skills: Analytical mindset and the ability to proactively solve issues.
Deadline-Oriented: Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines with attention to detail.
Proactive Approach: Positive and can-do attitude, with the ability to take initiative.
Desirable Attributes:
Experience with web development in industries such as publishing or content management.
Familiarity with managing content-rich digital platforms.
Knowledge of technologies like XML, and experience with eCommerce systems.
A good understanding of business analysis practices, including ETL processes and Datamodelling.
High-level understanding of financial principles related to project management.
