What you'll be doing:

You will be responsible for delivering the media strategy for Veolia UK and Ireland, leading a small team of PR professionals to support and strengthen the positive profile of the business in the media. Working with the Head and Deputy Head of Communications, you will help create an integrated communications strategy alongside the Senior Internal Communications Manager to ensure clear messaging across internal and external stakeholders.

The role will also be responsible for the delivery of research and developing thought leadership content alongside business as usual media content inclusive of writing, proofreading, and editing all pro-active media content, as well as creating and implementing longer media campaigns which deliver opportunities to increase positive coverage of Veolia's purpose of Ecological Transformation.

Building strong relationships with journalists, identifying media opportunities on evolving issues and providing media response and crisis media support for unplanned events is also a key part of the role.

Veolia UK & Ireland has so many stories to tell and we're looking for an experienced communicator to bring these to life across trade, national and broadcast media. Working closely with the internal communications team and the wider corporate affairs team, this Senior Media Manager role will cover ground-breaking technological advances, comment on environmental policy legislation, champion our Resourcers as they help achieve our purpose of Ecological Transformation and more.

What we're looking for:

  • Previous and proven experience as a Journalist, Media Manager, Media Director, Media Planner, or a similar role in a reputed Marketing firm or Media industry, ideally with a degree in communications/media or related field
  • Experience of creating appropriate content for dissemination via press releases, social media, websites, and other distribution channels, including in depth knowledge of the latest media trends, practices, and developments and the ability to conduct press conferences and briefings
  • Familiarity with social, digital, and print media platforms, with an understanding of and the deployment of analytics tools
  • The ability to nurture long-term relationships with key media influencers
  • A natural leader who displays strong decision-making and attention to detail, with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, working independently and as part of a team.
  • You'll be an analytical thinker with strong conceptual and research skills and excellent interpersonal, communication, and public speaking skills.
