About this client/child:
Thomas, aged 5, lives at home surrounded by his loving family including his 3-year-old brother! Thomas responds with a smile when his parents and staff play games with him. Thomas sustained a Perinatal Hypoxic Brain Injury at birth resulting in profound developmental delay, and complex care and medical needs. Thomas has dystonic cerebral palsy, a PEG in situ, epilepsy, and requires suctioning. He receives a high level of support from multiple medical professionals and teams. More information is available on his medical needs when you apply. Team Thomas provides round the clock support, and works like a well-oiled machine and ensures that he receives the highest level of care, support, and therapy input.
Overview of role:
Thomas benefits from structure and routine throughout the day, he is unable to verbalise his needs, wishes, and wants, so it is vital that his care needs are anticipated; however, he will give you a big smile when he is happy. Thomas is making fantastic progress with his rehabilitation; there will be a lot of therapy input (OT, SaLT, Physiotherapy etc.) which will be implemented daily by his care team. The Support Worker will provide support in all aspects of Thomas care (day and waking night), including his complex care medical needs (suctioning, PEG feed). Bespoke training is provided, however, due to his high level of needs, you must have previous experience supporting a young person with epilepsy and seizures and suctioning. We have an opening for an experienced support worker to join the team, providing adhoc support, which includes day and night shifts. Rota is provided 4 weeks in advance, although we are unable to guarantee shifts, or set shift, you will provide your availability to the team leader who will try their best to accommodate your availability. Much more information available once Snap receives your application.
Who this job would suit:
You will come into this role with excellent experience supporting a very young child with complex medical needs. However, you will also come with a compassionate, thoughtful, nurturing nature. Thomas s family need a support worker who can see him for who he is! You are going to be part of Team Thomas so you will work alongside your colleagues, supporting one another, and ensuring Thomas is safe, comforted, and happy.
What s great about this job: There will be ongoing training, reviews, and support by the Team Leader and Case Management team. Thomas is an adorable little boy and you will be very fortunate to be a part of life and dedicated care team.
