£66,318 - £80,874 per annum

Hybrid working: 2-3 days per week in the office and out in the community

Are you an experienced and accomplished Commissioner who is passionate about delivering better outcomes for children, young people and their families?

The Commissioning Team is part of Children's Services - Business and Resources department, who act as the 'right arm' to deliver support to colleagues across Children's Services and our wider partners. Overseeing and developing the transformation and improvement of service provision, you will be leading on improving outcomes for service users through our external contracts and services.

You will be joining us at an exciting time as we are build a new team and develop our youth offer in line with being the London Borough of Culture in 2025. Our focus on empowering communities and reducing inequalities, and ensuring our young people are supported, happy and thriving through all of the work we do across education, social care and early help.

About the role

Managing and supported by a Senior Commissioner and a brokerage team, you will drive innovation with strategic forward planning that links into the children's and corporate strategies to achieve high quality provision and value for money.

Working aligned with the identified children's priorities, you will be monitoring contracts for budget, quality and performance; and leading on the procurement and improvement exercises with elements of service redesign and transformation.Your role will be key in developing and delivering high level governance reports, needs assessments, service reviews, as well as data analysis on budget and financial oversight.

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Good management skills with the ability to provide support to members of staff and colleagues.
  • Project management skills with up-to-date knowledge of national policy and guidance.
  • Excellent communication, relationship building and partnership working skills.
  • Experience of outcome focussed commissioning with good negotiation skills.
  • Passionate about children and families, championing the voice of the child and families especially from vulnerable groups.
  • Understand the political landscape with the ability to work with people from all walks of life. (e.g. councillors, partners).
  • Producing high level overview presentations and reports in a concise manner.
