Contract Details:
. Duration: 3 months
. Location: Welwyn Garden City, with a minimum of 3 days onsite per week and hybrid working options

Job Summary: Leading the UK Workplace Relations team, you will be accountable for the Workplace Relations strategy, ensuring it aligns with and supports the Group People plan and business strategy. Your mission is to help attract, retain, and manage our people while fostering a positive and compliant working environment.

Are you an expert in workplace relations, passionate about shaping people policies and leading strategic initiatives? We are seeking a UK Head of Workplace Relations for a 3-month contract to join the dedicated team at Tesco, based in Welwyn Garden City. This role offers a hybrid working model, with a minimum of 3 days per week onsite and flexibility for remote work the rest of the week.

Key Responsibilities:
. Develop and implement the UK Workplace Relations strategy that underpins the business's goals, addressing employee needs and driving a culture of continuous improvement.
. Own and oversee all people policies for UK colleagues, leading strategic policy changes that align with business needs, ensure compliance, and anticipate future challenges.
. Act as a strategic adviser on policy development, offering expert guidance to senior leadership on the implications of workplace relations strategies.
. Manage Union relationships across the UK, leading negotiations, consultations, and communications at key forums, including the European Works Council, and representing Tesco in Group Colleague Contribution Panels for the Board.
. Enhance policy understanding and compliance by raising awareness among colleagues and managers through clear and effective communication.
. Support the business through change, advising on collective consultations and ensuring smooth transitions during organizational shifts.
. Collaborate with the broader People Team, working in partnership with peers across markets and subsidiaries to drive cohesive and impactful outcomes for Tesco and its employees.

What We're Looking For:
. Extensive experience in workplace relations strategy, with in-depth knowledge of the legislative landscape and its impact on policies and practices.
. Proven track record in managing HR policy changes, from strategic planning to operational execution.
. Expertise in leading complex Union negotiations, demonstrating exceptional communication, diplomacy, and conflict-resolution skills.
. Strategic mindset with the ability to simplify complex topics and make informed decisions that align with the organization's objectives.
. Strong team leadership and coaching abilities, empowering and guiding a large team to deliver results while fostering growth and development.
. Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills, using empathy and active listening to understand and influence diverse perspectives.
