Job description

Job Title: Quality Inspection Engineer

Location: Sittingbourne

About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Quality Engineer to join our Inspection Team. Reporting to the Quality Manager, you will oversee inspection-related activities specific to project requirements. Your role will involve performing and supervising dimensional and visual inspections, ensuring quality control, and working closely with suppliers to address non-conformities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct dimensional and visual inspections of parts to engineering drawings using gauges and relevant equipment along with performing material inspections with high attention to detail.
  • Manage the inspection of all parts received from suppliers using manual and digital measurement tools.
  • Identify and investigate non-conforming parts, initiate quarantine processes, raise non-conformance reports, and liaise with suppliers for corrective actions.
  • Perform and verify First Article Inspection (FAI) data in line with AS9102 requirements.
  • Manage product release and acceptance within the company's ERP system.
  • Review, analyse, inspect, and archive documents according to EPS requirements before release to finished goods.
  • Work proactively towards continuous improvement and team training based on business forecasts and plans.

Competencies/Qualifications:

  • Minimum of three years' experience in a Quality role with a strong understanding of ISO 9001:2015 QMS requirements, customer satisfaction focus, and experience as an Internal Auditor.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, strong interpersonal abilities, and proven team-working and leadership skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with strong analytical and critical thinking skills to identify problems, determine root causes, and implement effective solutions, including new processes or work instructions.
  • Competent in interpreting engineering drawings, understanding tolerances, and using a range of measuring instruments and calibration to various testing standards; basic knowledge of welding inspection is essential.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable to new technologies, willing to learn new skills, with a hands-on approach to problem-solving, attention to detail, and a valid UK driving license (AS9102 knowledge and ability to generate CMM Arm programs using Polyworks is advantageous).
