Job description

MERITUS are recruiting for a experienced and detail-oriented Autoclave Operator to support the production and curing process of aerospace composite parts.


AUTOCLAVE OPERATOR - UP TO 13.50 PAYE- DARWEN - 12 MONTHS (EXTENDABLE) 4 DAY WEEK (MON-THURS) - 37 HOURS PER WEEK (OVERTIME PREMIUM RATE) - ONSITE ROLE - SINGLE STAGE INTERVIEW ONSITE

The successful candidate will ensure the efficient and safe operation of autoclave equipment, adhere to strict quality and safety standards, and monitor every aspect of the curing process to ensure finished components meet aerospace specifications.


Responsibilities

  • Operate autoclave machinery to cure and fabricate composite components, ensuring precise adherence to temperature, pressure, and timing protocols.
  • Monitor and record equipment parameters throughout each cycle to maintain detailed quality control records.
  • Perform inspections before and after curing to ensure compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and troubleshooting on autoclave equipment to minimise downtime and ensure optimal functionality.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to enhance processes and meet production schedules.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organised work area to uphold a safe and efficient workspace.


Skillset/Experience Required

  • Proven experience in operating autoclaves, preferably within the aerospace or composite materials industry.
  • Strong understanding of composite material curing processes, thermal management, and pressure applications.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and follow detailed work instructions.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality products.
  • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team


Desirable

  • Previous experience in aerospace or defence manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of aerospace quality standards and certifications
  • Technical certification or training in autoclave operations or composite manufacturing.
