Job description

Principal JavaScript Developer

  • £80k and £90k + bonus and benefits.
  • Manchester city centre (3 days a week WFH + flexible start times: 7am -10am)

"Take ownership of the overhauling public facing Front End systems servicing millions of customers across the UK and US"

JOB PURPOSE

You will be working across a number of development teams to help realise the full potential of a recently launched 100 million pound, high-volume, low latency microservices platform, and challenge process and existing ways of working to overhaul Front End systems.

This will include

  • Designing, developing, and optimizing full-stack JavaScript systems and components (React, Node.js,
  • Scaling and performance optimisation of web Front End and interaction with API layers
  • Works to increase team cohesion by being a collaboration first person - such as helping up skill peers, engaging in pair programming and providing high quality code reviews
  • Resolve high-level, complex software challenges and optimise system performance
  • Implement and follow software development processes, including Agile and Scrum methodologies
  • Document software design, code, and test procedures
  • Participate in the estimation of software development projects
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of technical documentation
  • Mentor Junior Developers and assist with their professional development.

REQUIREMENTS:

Essential

  • Significant commercial experience in the web stack of React, Node.js, HTML, CSS and JavaScript
  • Understanding of low latency, high-scale approaches s
  • Thorough grasp of distributed web caching tools and techniques, eg Redis, etc
  • Understanding of fundamental software development best practices, architectures and patterns
  • Awareness of modern deployment methodologies
  • Expertise in performance optimisation of web technologies

Desirable

  • Any additional experience including React Native, MongoDB or Hazelcast
