Job description
At Saint-Gobain British Gypsum we're looking for a highly motivated individual to join the team at Barrow Mine as a Mine Craft Operator (Electrical).
The job will require the candidate to work shifts as part of a small focussed multi-disciplinary team. The candidate will also participate in delivering continuous improvement projects as well as operating all the underground production equipment.
What will I be doing?
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a positive "can do" approach, be conscientious and hard working. A flexible and willing approach to working hours and deployment is essential.
A continuous improvement mind set is a fundamental requirement with the focus on achievement and performance. As well as maintenance work, there will be a need to operate the underground equipment to a high standard alongside the mining and mechanical operatives.
The tasks on which the appointee will apply the continuous improvement tools will involve all aspects of the mine operation. These will include Professional Maintenance on all of the underground mining equipment. The post will report to a Team Leader, Shift Manager and ultimately the Mine Production Manager and Electrical Engineer.
What do I need to be considered?
- Must have undertaken a recognised electrical apprenticeship and would ideally have several years' experience installing, examining, testing, and maintaining electrical equipment.
- Experience of L.V. and H.V. systems, LOTO and associated Permits to Work (PTW).
- An understanding of PLC and SCADA Control systems.
- Coming from a Mining background would be advantageous but is not essential. Other industrial experience will be considered e.g. quarry, foundry.
- Experience of operating, repairing and maintaining large industrial machinery.
