Job title - Finance Assistant

Location: Lincoln
Hybrid working: minimum 3 days a week in the office (5 days a week initially whilst training)

Contract length: 6 months rolling contract

Rate: £15 per hour PAYE


Randstad Sourceright, a leading provider of RPO & MSP Recruitment Services is currently recruiting for a Finance Assistant to work for a global leader in the provision of sustainable rolling stock solutions in all areas of rail transportation.

Overview:

Supporting and working in tandem with the project accountant; reviewing invoices, spreadsheets, building cost models.
Analysis and forecasting; analysing trends, see where they re spending money and noting areas of concern.

The Role:

Working closely with the Commercial Manager and Project Accountant, you will be responsible for the delivery of effective project accounting and commercial support for major overhaul programmes. You will be working alongside the Operations teams as well as the Finance team to help deliver the financial and commercial aspects of the project.

Responsibilities:

  • Forecast Support the project accountant with completion of the monthly forecast, proposal of reasonable adjustments and submission
  • Monthly Reporting Support the project accountant with reconciliations with SAP, variance analysis vs budget and forecast
  • Ad hoc Models, Reports and Calculations
  • Cost Model support the project accountant with the maintenance, reconciliation with current budget/forecast, raising of variances with the Commercial Manager for approval to change
  • Budgeting Support with the planning, co-ordinating and submitting budget
  • Monthly Financial Review Support the project accountant and commercial manager with meeting preparation and presentation
  • Workflow & GRIR (Goods receipt/Invoice receipt) - Clearance, review and clearance of aged items
  • Monthly PSR (project status review) update prior comments update and profit bridge
  • Month end support the project accountant with the full month end close (including postings, accruals, provisions (with sign off from CPM , raising of issues with CPM (Commercial Project Manager)
  • Raising of Invoicing & payment of supplier invoicing
  • ICFR (Internal Control Financial Reporting) Controls - Creation of review/approval docs
  • VOs (Variation orders) - Creation of offer doc and costing sheets with PM, aid PM in creation of the risk register
  • Maintenance of task list and detailed plan for the month specific to role
  • Update and price Additional Services log
  • Monthly cost reviews with budget holders, including full variance analysis

Key Skills and experience required:

  • Part-Qualified / Qualified (ACCA/CIMA/ACA) or equivalent with relevant experience in a project-based industry
  • Knowledge and experience using SAP (desirable)
  • The ability to demonstrate understanding and interpretation of key financial statements
  • Microsoft Office experience with Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills.
  • Excel is Essential
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative with flexible and proactive approach to work as this role will involve working independently
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong willingness to learn and develop
  • Able to hit the ground running
