Job description
W Talent is partnering with a leading manufacturer of calcium products to find a skilled Maintenance Planner for their Engineering Department.
In this role, reporting to the Site Maintenance Manager, you will plan and schedule preventative and corrective maintenance activities, acting as the vital communication link between production and maintenance teams. Your insights will drive continuous improvement while collaborating with plant engineers and the stores team to ensure resource availability.
You will also oversee maintenance and reliability programs and project upgrades, ensuring they are executed safely, efficiently, and within budget. Your expertise will champion agile maintenance management practices, ensuring accurate and timely information input.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the initial screening of incoming work orders, identifying the scope and necessary planning level.
- Conduct field walks to assess and document job requirements and identify safety hazards.
- Ensure the integration of safety procedures, including lockout/tagout protocols, into job plans.
- Estimate required hours and skills for work order tasks, planning jobs with appropriate detail for skilled trades.
- Procure specialised equipment and tools needed for maintenance tasks.
- Gather and compile necessary engineering documents, specifications, and drawings.
- Arrange for required parts and create comprehensive job packages for skilled trades.
- Maintain current bills of materials and accurately measure maintenance backlogs.
- Ensure the timely closing of work orders and maintenance log items.
- Participate in outage planning activities, including scope identification and risk assessment.
- Collaborate with Reliability Department personnel on improvement projects, particularly those related to proactive maintenance.
- Compile and deliver reports from the CMMS on work execution management.
- Serve as the liaison between operations, maintenance, engineering, and contractors in developing the weekly maintenance work schedule.
- Attend scheduling meetings to communicate backlog and priorities, integrating this information into the weekly skilled trades work schedule.
- Monitor schedule compliance and implement measures to improve resource utilisation and wrench time.
- Communicate daily with maintenance supervisors regarding schedule changes and coordination issues.
- Document and publish the weekly work schedule following the scheduling meeting.
- Oversee proactive work scheduling, including predictive and preventive tasks, and notify management of execution shortcomings.
- Provide required KPIs as requested by senior management.
Key Requirements
To apply for the Maintenance Planner role, candidates should possess extensive experience in heavy industrial maintenance, with demonstrable knowledge in maintenance planning for industrial plant and equipment. Strong technical, fault-finding, and diagnostic skills are essential, along with the ability to lead teams in resolving technical issues.
