Are you our new SQL Server Database Administrator?
As a SQL Server Database Administrator at Intrum, you will be part of a skilled team of database professionals within our IT Department, specialising in database design and maintenance. Leveraging your expertise in SQL Server, you will offer guidance on systems design, optimise SQL queries, and provide effective solutions for SQL server-related issues. In this role, you will serve as a subject matter expert and provide ongoing support.
This position can be based at any of our offices in Manchester, Surrey or Glasgow, with a blend of homeworking.
What you will do:
Resolve service tickets using monitoring tools like Redgate, ensuring timely and expert issue resolution.
Refine physical database design and maintain database and data standards (including GDPR compliance).
Install, test, and customise applications and new DBMS versions to meet system requirements.
Manage database security, disaster recovery, and cloud backups (Azure, AWS S3).
Ensure proper storage and archiving procedures, including Ola Hallengren scripts.
Collaborate on business-driven projects and work closely with SQL developers, contributing to team knowledge and documentation.
Devoted to the FCA principle of Consumer Duty, by ensuring we are driving good customer outcomes across all aspects that have potential to impact our customers.
What we're looking for:
Previous experience in Financial Services or a heavily regulated industry.
Expertise in T-SQL (Apply online only , SQL Server replication, Always On/Availability Groups, and query optimisation.
Strong understanding of SSRS, SSIS, SQL migrations, and SQL installation/configuration.
Proficient in SQL server patching, upgrades, PowerShell remote management, and troubleshooting complex issues.
Excellent problem determination, analytical, and resolution skills are a must.
Experience with Dev lifecycle/database progression (Dev/Test/UAT/Pre-prod/Production) and ITSM tools (e.g., ServiceNow).
Strong communication, technical documentation, and organisational skills with a customer-focused, proactive approach.
