Position Title:
Logistics Specialist

12-month contract - potential to go perm

Location: Newcastle

Working hours: Monday to Friday 07.30 to 05.30 including lunch break, (37.5) - flexibility of the hours/ onsite role

Job Purpose
The Logistics Specialist will support the logistic department, to carry out the logistical movements of materials/goods coming into the supply chain (Manufacturing) and the loading out of completed products (Projects).
We are a Manufacturing and Project driven Business, therefore ideally the candidate will have experienced in either one or both fields.
The role also entails preparing customs documents, to present to our broker for declaration (import and export) and audit checks to ensure compliance

Responsibilities: (experience preferred but not necessary to have full cross-functional skills across all sections)

  • Book transportation for material movement inside the UK.
  • Book transportation for the importation/ exportation of material for the supply chain, and arrange all the appropriate supporting documents and customs declarations
  • Actively support the logistics team in loadouts, working cross - functionally with the company Reels Team, Project Managers, and other supporting departments. As well as 3rd parties, Vessels, Ports and Surveyors.
  • Actively support the logistics team in Heavy Haulage road moves, working cross - functionally with the company Reels Team and other supporting departments. As well as 3rd parties, Heavy Haulage suppliers, Highways agencies, Police and Surveyors.
  • Support the logistics team in maintaining high standards of record keeping, documentation production and robust checking, closing of completed Material movements, raising any anomalies to be actioned by the logistics lead.
  • Suggest and support implementation of improvements in logistics, in line with the Logistic Teams priorities, whilst always taking in consideration trade compliance and HSE standards.
  • Ability to contribute to the creation of improvement and best practice strategies to improve operational performance

Main Accountabilities:
  • Compliantly moving goods, whilst adhering to all company policies, International Trade compliance, HMRC and Customs regulations at all times.
  • Supporting the Logistics lead in Loadouts, arranging Kick-off meetings, aligning all parties, controlling the flow of information and enabling collaboration throughout the process to successfully loadout projects on time.
  • Work with Sourcing to plan the look ahead for up coming material movements
  • Working with MRP, Warehouse and Production to control inventory, on time delivery and receipting.
  • Loading transport requests into our freight system
  • Sourcing the most cost effective and efficient logistic solution to the transportation request
  • Ensure carrier compliance at all times
  • Support Logistics Projects
  • Join and participate in all Logistic meetings.

Qualification/Requirements:
  • Must have a good understanding of Incoterms
  • Preferred understanding of import / export process / Duties and Tariffs
  • Good problem-solving skills, sound judgment, initiative and creativity.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, influencing, and organizational skills.
  • Individual must be a self-starter, creative and clear thinker.
  • Advanced Microsoft computer skills, excel, tableau
  • Training will be given with Logistic systems
