Estimator (Permanent) - £50,000 + £60,000

I am currently recruiting for a leading civil engineering company that specialises in delivering high-quality infrastructure projects. Their expertise spans across various private and public sectors, including residential and commercial. Typically, their contracts encompass a wide range of services, including the construction of roads and sewers for private housing developments, comprehensive groundworks, shell and core construction, harbours and sea defences, demolition, land remediation, sewage treatment plants, bridges, and waste management solutions. They pride themselves on commitment to excellence, innovation, and sustainability, ensuring that every project they undertake meets the highest standards of quality and safety.
Your new role
They are seeking a skilled and experienced estimator with a strong background in housing projects to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for a variety of civil engineering projects, with a particular focus on residential housing developments. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Analyse project plans, specifications, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive cost estimates.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to gather necessary information for accurate estimations.
  • Evaluate and negotiate subcontractor and supplier quotes to ensure cost-effectiveness.
  • Prepare detailed bid proposals and tender documents.
  • Monitor and update cost estimates throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Provide support in value engineering and cost control measures.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, materials, and construction methods.
  • What you'll need to succeed
  • Proven experience as an Estimator, ideally in housing projects. If not, ideally within earthworks!
  • Strong understanding of civil engineering principles and construction practices.
  • Proficiency in estimation software and tools.
  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Relevant degree or certificate in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field.
