Finance and HR Director

We are seeking a senior finance and HR professional looking to step into a remote role for an established well-regarded children's charity.

Position: Finance and HR Director

Location: Remote, with occasional travel

Salary: £55-60k per annum

Contract: Full time, Permanent

The Role

In this pivotal role, you will oversee the financial health of the charity, managing day-to-day operations, preparing financial statements, and ensuring payroll and legal compliance. You will also play a key role in the charity's internal operations, managing HR functions such as recruitment, policy implementation, and team performance.

The Finance & HR Director will work closely with the Development Director, who oversees fundraising and ensures the charity's services are accessible across the UK. There is also an expectation for the Finance & HR Director to engage directly with the charity's beneficiaries, providing a rewarding opportunity to see the real-world impact of the work. They are looking for a dedicated Finance & HR Director who shares their commitment to supporting vulnerable children and families.

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day financial operations including budgeting, cash flow management, and financial reporting
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Oversee payroll, ensuring compliance with PAYE and legal requirements
  • Provide financial insights to the board for strategic decision-making
  • Lead recruitment efforts and oversee HR policies
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations
  • Support staff development through performance appraisals
  • Handle employee grievances and disciplinary actions
  • Train and supervise junior staff
  • Maintain regular contact with beneficiaries, including families with complex needs

You will also have:

  • A professional finance qualification (ACA or similar)
  • Proven experience in a managerial finance role
  • A good understanding of charity operations and governance
  • A willingness to deal with families who may present with complex issues
