Are you a Qualified Accountant looking to use your skills and accounting knowledge to help address the biggest health issue in the UK today?
We are looking for a Financial Accountant (Tax), to join our busy Finance team as we progress our finance transformation journey, including the embedding of a new ERP finance system, Unit 4 (Agresso).
In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that we remain compliant with all VAT and corporation tax legislation. More broadly, you will also work closely with many colleagues across finance to support the delivery of high quality statutory audit/ month end closes and finance processes more generally.
You will be responsible for:
- Preparation and submission of timely and accurate VAT and corporation tax returns.
- Proactively training and guiding teams and individuals across the society with respect to tax issues
- Working closely with the rest of the finance team to successfully embed a new finance system and improve controls and processes
This is a homeworking role, but you will be required to travel to attend some meetings and team-days, so you must reside in the UK, have the correct right to work documents to work in the UK and be comfortable/willing to travel to our flagship offices.
About you
- Significant experience of preparing VAT returns including application of partial exemption rules, ideally in the charity sector
- Qualified Accountant (ideally ACA/ ACCA)
- Extensive experience in a Financial Accountant role or similar
- Industry experience in an organisation of similar size, scale, and complexity
- Experience and knowledge of Unit4 ERPx or equivalent cloud-based system
- Able to demonstrate a continuous improvement mindset, strong initiative and good judgement
- Motivated by joining a committed finance team and delivering an ambitious transformation plan
Person Specification
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to liaise with a diverse range of stakeholders
- Excellent IT skills and extensive experience/knowledge on using Microsoft packages
- Work collaboratively and be able to prioritise your workload effectively and remain solutions focused
- Excellent organisational and timekeeping skills
- Supports colleagues to ensure team deadlines are met
- Very self-motivated but know when to ask for help
