Job description

Our client is looking for a highly experienced Head of Sales to lead a dedicated team, drive market growth, and expand partnerships in the UK commercial vehicle sector. This role focuses on developing strategies to support the decarbonisation of fleet operations through low/zero-emission energy solutions, including electric charging, HVO, bio-CNG, and hydrogen. The Head of Sales will play a key role in shaping company strategy, managing key accounts, and guiding a growing sales team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain long-term relationships with approximately 50 of the most significant commercial vehicle fleets in the UK. Use a consultative sales approach to understand their needs and communicate these insights to the business.
  • Expand and lead the sales team, including hiring, setting objectives, managing KPIs, and motivating the team to achieve company goals. Initially, the team will include a Business Development Manager and a Sales Associate.
  • Work closely with the Business Development Director to create detailed delivery plans that align with the company s sales strategy. Provide feedback to the Senior Leadership Team to adapt the business plan as needed.
  • Proactively manage partnerships with key stakeholders such as OEMs, leasing companies, and dealers to drive utilisation and sales at clean energy hubs.
  • Manage the budget for industry event attendance, ensuring the company is well-represented at conferences and networking opportunities.
  • Oversee the preparation of materials for customer engagements, investor presentations, and Board meetings. Maintain accurate records in the CRM system.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Relevant degree or equivalent experience, with at least seven years in business development, sales, or marketing. Experience in the commercial vehicle or energy sectors is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated skills in leading teams, setting strategic objectives, and achieving sales targets.
  • Familiarity with decarbonisation and renewable energy solutions for the transport sector.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of presenting to senior stakeholders and clients.
  • Experience with CRM systems for tracking customer interactions and sales processes.
  • Willingness to travel extensively within the UK, up to four days per week.

About the Client

Our client is a forward-thinking energy company dedicated to supporting the UK's transition to a low-emission future by developing a network of clean energy hubs for commercial vehicles. Their solutions cater to the recharging and refueling needs of fleet operators, offering infrastructure for electric charging, HVO, bio-CNG, and hydrogen.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Competitive, based on experience, with an annual performance bonus.
  • Health insurance, pension scheme, car allowance, and flexible working options (including one day of home-based work per week).
  • Opportunities for growth within a scaling company during an exciting phase of market expansion.

Candidates must be available to start on January 1, 2025, and have the right to work in the UK.
