Job description

We are currently working with a local authority in the North-East, seeking to hire a Highway Inspector. In this vital role, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and upkeep of road infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct routine highway inspections to identify defects or potential hazards.
• Evaluate the condition of roads, footpaths, and cycleways.
• Record and report issues such as potholes, damaged signage, and obstructions.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external contractors to coordinate repairs and maintenance.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Investigate road traffic accidents, collect evidence, and provide detailed reports.
• Oversee construction and maintenance activities to verify adherence to approved plans and specifications.
• Keep thorough records of inspections, maintenance activities, and incidents.

Job Requirements

• Previous experience in highway inspection or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of highway maintenance and safety standards.
• Familiarity with relevant legislation and regulations.
• Excellent attention to detail and analytical abilities.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in computer software for data entry and reporting.
• Valid driving license.
