Salary: £57,000-£67,100

National pay locations: Dover, Immingham, Manchester, Middlesbrough: £57,000- £62,700

London pay location: Croydon: £61,000 - £67,100

Five year fixed-term contract.

Working pattern: Full time (job share and compressed hours available)

About us

Border Force is a law enforcement arm of the Home Office. We re responsible for managing UK border control, implementing immigration and customs regulations, and working with the wider Home Office on counter terrorism, organised crime, modern slavery and trafficking.

Through the Maritime Capabilities Replacement Programme (MCRP), we plan to deliver a new fleet of vessels to support the Border Force Maritime Command (BFMC). As the UK s only national maritime law enforcement body, the BFMC play a key role in delivering the Government s crime reduction and border protection objectives. And with their fleet nearing the end of their design life cycle, the MCRP is focused on replacing it with high-quality, long-lasting vessels.

About the role

This is a unique opportunity to bring your maritime knowledge and skills to a role like no other. You ll be a key part of the MCRP, overseeing the preparation, planning and build of the new fleet.

Initially, you ll use your experience to help develop the designs of key products. Then, you ll work across the entire delivery lifecycle, bringing together business needs, the strategic goals of the BFMC, and technical capabilities of the vessels themselves.

In the longer term, the role will evolve. As the programme gets underway, you ll become involved in the build and trial stages, working with stakeholders and other government bodies to ensure the fleet is delivered to the highest standard.

It s a complex and demanding programme of work, where you ll play a critical role setting the BFMC up to protect the UK s borders both now and in the future. And as you work within this dynamic and engaging team, you ll find it s easy to be energised.

About you

You ll be highly knowledgeable and able to provide maritime technical advice at a senior level. With experience in a comparable technical role, you ll be used to co-ordinating design programmes. And your interpersonal skills will make you confident at bringing together customers and suppliers, matching priorities together, and delivering products that meet everyone s objectives.

You ll be proactive with strong leadership skills. Someone who picks up new content quickly and who s able to make effective decisions and recommendations. Finally, you ll work with integrity and be motivated by our purpose to keep the UK s borders safe and secure.
