Job type - Part time, Permanent

Salary - £26,478 per annum, pro rata

Hours - 15 hours per week

This is an exciting and unique opportunity to join the Power 2 Team in the role of Substance Misuse Practitioner. This role will be based within the Power 2 team for 2 days per week (15 hours) in total.

Power 2 is a multi-disciplinary which works with Children and Young people from 9 years to 25 years. We also work with a range of parents/carers whereby their own substance misuse affects their parenting ability or their child s risky behaviours including substance misuse impacting on family life.

The role of the Substance Misuse worker is to provide a professional, consensual and effective support structure to young people and their families, who have become known to Power 2 and need support for their substance misuse. You would work alongside Power 2 Keyworkers in providing these interventions using your knowledge and experience accordingly.

To role requires completion of Assessments of need, and to develop bespoke packages of intervention and support.

The main focus of Power 2 is to provide a range of services which focuses on those who are involved with or at risk of Exploitation, Serious Youth Violence and Gang affiliation. We also provide services to those who have experienced Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE S) with the focus of our work taking a Trauma informed approach using the ARC (Attachment, regulation and Competency Framework methodology.

Opportunities for training within the Team will be available.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 12-months experience of working in multi-agency setting, particularly within the Substance Misuse or associated field. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with and motivate challenging service users from a diverse range of backgrounds, often with multiple and complex needs. Lastly, we are looking for an individual with experience of working as part of a team with a holistic approach to service delivery, particularly with experience in developing and delivering 1-1 psychosocial interventions and group activities.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Design and deliver effective interventions which are solution focused and practical.
  • Undertake thorough assessments of need and develop care plans where required.
  • Support service users to make progress against their objectives by providing tailored pathway interventions and making supported referrals into other agencies.
  • Record, monitor and review progress against individual and service objectives in order to demonstrate impact and tangible outcomes.
  • Empower and motivate service users to identify and achieve desired outcomes. Actively engage with service users in decisions that affect them ensuring they have input in shaping the nature of services delivered to them through involvement activities.

An Enhanced DBS check will be required for this role.

Full UK driving licence or access to a vehicle is desirable.
