Job description

We have new contract vacancy for an enthusiastic person to join a family farming operation, on a 550-acre grass and maize farm near Wells, Somerset.

This 220-cow herd of Holsteins are all year-round calving and yielding 10,000 litres on 2 x milking via a 24 x 24 Fullwood Herringbone parlour, with ACR's, Auto ID, Seg gate, and auto footbath. High cows are housed all year round with lows grazing. Cows, when housed, have cubicles with headlocks for vet checks.

The appointed person will need to be ambitious enough to want the same goals as the farmer, taking a keen interest in herd health whilst controlling vet visits and hoof health, although a trimming contractor is used. Having an ability to use Uniform Agri, and maintain vet and med use, with AI ability an advantage.
