Job description

A market leader is looking for Medical Director and Consultant Psychiatrist to join their team at one of their specialist mental health services. This is a great opportunity for an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist looking to take the next step in their career.

Key Responsibilities of the Service Director:

• The responsible clinician and will oversee and maintain the care of all ward inpatients as required.
  
  

• Working across a male PICUE unit.
  
  

• Auditing the medical services rendered at the ward and ensuring their good quality in accordance to GMC standards of good medical practice and other relevant professional guidelines.
  
  

• To liaise with the Ministry of Justice for transfer of patients and approval of leave as required.
  
  

• The post holder will have overall responsibility of patient treatment plans, whilst liaising with the Multi-Disciplinary Team.
  
  

• Responsibility for the supervision of reports for Mental Health Act Tribunals and managers' hearings and would be expected to attend hearings.
  
  

• To lead the implementation of risk assessment, risk management and to embed clinical governance within the Hospitals.
  
  

• Assess capacity of inpatients whenever appropriate.
  
  

Medical Director Requirements:

• Fully GMC registered & MBBS (or equivalent) qualified
  
  

• Registered on the specialist register (CCT/CESR), Section 12 and AC Status
  
  

• Knowledgeable of the Mental Health Act and Code of Practice, along with the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Code of Capacity
  
  

• Committed to continued professional development
  
  

• A member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) or equivalent
