Lead Caretaker

Lead Caretaker - Secondary School

Salary : Grade 9 £27,334 to £29,777
Contract : Permanent, Part time, All Year Round
Location : South Gloucestershire School
Start Date : September

I have a SouthGloucestershire school looking for a dedicated lead caretaker to look aftertheir school and localised premises team. The school is part of a wider trustwith good facilities management.
Caretakers play acrucial and integral role in the school. I am looking for candidates withexperience in a school setting ideally, but I would also like to hear fromcandidates with relevant experience with key responsibilities below.

  • Key Responsibilities
  • Act as key holder and unlock/lock buildings to provide access as required.
  • Be responsible for proper maintenance, cleaning, security and safety within the school premises and grounds.
  • Undertake successfully all training required to deliver the caretaking role.
  • Adhere to all school Quality, Safety, Health and Environmental policies and procedures.
  • Ensure all equipment is kept clean, well maintained and is a safe working order.
  • Have a full working knowledge of all cleaning equipment, materials and approved chemicals.
  • Undertake and oversee all cleaning of internal and external spaces.
  • Carry out all planned and ad hoc porterage.
  • Act as first attendee to all helpdesk jobs and resolve or feedback requirements.
  • Set-up rooms for the use of examinations / school functions etc and return to usual lay out following the function.
  • Carry out all PPM (Planned Preventative Maintenance) tasks as required and in line with statutory compliance, including weekly fire alarm and sprinkler tests and monthly emergency light flick tests.
  • Cover out of hours usage of the building as agreed with school lettings.
  • Ensure access is provided for contractors and contractors are always escorted if relevant DBS clearance is not available.
  • Ensure all Safeguarding Policies are always adhered to and raise any concerns in line with school policy.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

  • Requirements
  • Caretaking experience is preferred however similar experience can be accepted.
  • Sound knowledge of Health and Safety Regulations
  • Qualifications
  • Must undergo an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
  • Right to work in the UK.
