Fitness and Aquatics Therapy Assistant

Location: On-site, North Chailey, BN8 4EF

Salary: £24,126 per annum

Hours: Flexible rota (37 hours per week)

The Role

As a Fitness and Aquatics Therapy Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting both Aquatics Therapy and Fitness sessions, ensuring high standards of personal care, safety, and enjoyment for the children and young adults they support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting and instructing young people with varying abilities during Aquatics Therapy and gym sessions.
  • Supporting therapy programs designed by their NHS Physio team and maintaining accurate records of each young person's progress.
  • Facilitating fun and engaging fitness activities in the gym and ensuring activity schedules meet the needs of their Children's Home.
  • Providing personal care before and after sessions, assisting young people with changing and showering.
  • Working closely with the wider team to create a stimulating, safe, and supportive environment.

Skills and Qualifications

  • GCSEs Grade C or above in English and Maths (or equivalent).
  • Recognised fitness qualification (Level 2 or above).
  • Basic knowledge of Health & Safety guidelines and responsibilities.
  • Swimming ability and fitness level to meet National Pool Lifeguard Qualification standards.

Other useful skills and experience:

  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities or complex needs (desirable).
  • National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (desirable).
  • ASA/STA Level 1 or 2 in Teaching Aquatics (desirable).
