SEND Teacher Milk Education are recruiting a dedicated and passionate SEND Teacher for SEND schools in the Gateshead area on a long-term supply basis. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in achieving their full potential. SEND Teacher Key Responsibilities: Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality lessons and interventions tailored to meet the individual needs of students with SEND. Work collaboratively with classroom teachers, support staff, and external professionals to develop and implement effective strategies for student progress. Assess and monitor student progress, providing regular feedback to students, parents, and staff. Develop and maintain individualised education plans (IEPs) and ensure they are reviewed and updated regularly. Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued and supported. Support the social and emotional development of students with SEND, encouraging confidence and independence. Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and other professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in SEND education. Maintain accurate records of student progress and liaise with SENCOs and other relevant professionals. SEND Teacher Non-Negotiables: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent. Proven experience working with students with SEND, ideally in a specialist setting. In-depth knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and relevant legislation. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team. Patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to supporting the learning and development of students with SEND. Flexibility and adaptability to respond to the changing needs of students and the school. Desirable: A relevant SEND qualification or additional training in specific areas of SEND (e.g., Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia). Experience in creating and delivering individualized education plans (IEPs).
