Job description

Job Title: Sales and Purchase Ledger Clerk

Location: Rugby, CV23

Working Hours: 9.00am-5.30pm Monday to Friday

Salary: Up to £28K

The Sales and Purchase Ledger Clerk is responsible for managing all aspects of the sales and purchase ledger functions within the company. This role ensures the accurate and timely processing of sales invoices, purchase order, and supplier invoices, while maintaining strong relationships with both clients and suppliers to optimise cash flow and financial accuracy.

Key responsibilities of Sales and Purchase Ledger Clerk:

  • Accurately enter and process sales and purchase invoices in Sage.
  • Match invoices with delivery slips, purchase orders, and other relevant documents to ensure accuracy.
  • Overseeing Sage operations and delivering regular reports on outstanding payables and other key metrics to management.
  • Prepare and process payments to suppliers, ensuring timely and accurate payments.
  • Monitor customer accounts, follow up on overdue payments, and manage credit control processes.
  • Maintain up-to-date and accurate records of all transactions in the ledgers.
  • Reconcile bank statements with the company s financial records regularly.
  • Sales and Purchase Ledger Clerk must address and resolve discrepancies or issues related to invoices, payments, and account statements.
  • Generate financial reports, such as aged debtor and creditor reports, and assist in month-end closing processes.
  • Ensure all financial documents are correctly filed and easily accessible for audits and reference.
  • Sales and Purchase Ledger Clerk must adhere to company policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with relevant financial regulations.

Required skills and Qualifications of Sales and Purchase Ledger Clerk:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Proficiency in Sage ideally
  • Strong organizational skills, keen attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proven ability to resolve issues promptly and effectively.
  • Advanced proficiency in other software and online platforms such as Equals money and All Star.
